How can kinetic energy be converted to electricity?

A dynamo is an alternator that produces direct current.
An alternator generates electric current.

2 parts are needed in both:
– A stator & – A rotor
The rotor spins while the stator is fixed.

The magnet must be one of the two parts, and the coil (usually the stator) the other.
Rotation induces current in coil at a particular voltage. This is your electrical energy.
Current is determined by speed, while voltage is almost fixed (the number and surface area of the coils, the distance from the magnet, and the number of turns they make)

You now need to generate kinetic energy to move your rotor. Often, a fan with blades (optimized for liquid, gas or solid) is used.
