- VLSI engineers: This area is where ECE engineers, as well as engineers with Master’s degrees in specialized areas such as micro electronics/VLSI, can find a job and a rewarding career. There are many job opportunities in this broad field. Some of them are listed below.
- VLSI front-end design and verification engineers.
- VLSI back-end engineers – physical design and routing, mask design, and so on
- Silicon Validation and Testing Engineers

- Embedded software: ECE engineers who have good programming skills, or an interest in it, can be good embedded software developers. The fundamental knowledge in electronics/microprocessors/microcontrollers along with programming will provide good and challenging opportunities. There are many opportunities in this area, with increasing demand for IoT (Internet of Things), and other market segments.
- Teaching. After completing specialized post-graduation and research, this is an exciting career for ECE engineers. There are many opportunities, and if you are passionate about teaching and learning, you will find a lot of fulfillment working at a top institute.

- Communication/Telecommunication sector: Support/Test/Development engineers and other similar roles in leading telecommunication companies is another career opportunity for ECE engineers.
