How to Park

For vehicles that are registered in other countries

Residents of Belgium with vehicles registered in another country must have the same car registered locally within six months.

Only the following categories of people can, after the submission of all documentary evidence and a valid parking permit for 1 year:

  • category 1: the car that is rented by a professional from another country to another person for a maximum period of six months. It is not renewable.
  • category 2: each physical person who makes use of the vehicle to perform the duties of their profession as a representative of a foreign proprietor which this person is legally bound by an employment contract
  • category 3: The vehicle used by an official living in Belgium and is employed by an international institution in a different country member of the European Union
  • 4. The car for which the owner is regarded as being a person who is absent for a period of time (the reason for being out of Belgium for a period of time, i.e. leaving the Belgian territorial area during a period of 3 months or more to one year, and for which a written declaration to the competent department from the municipal authority was made prior to the time) and who is allowed to keep his parking permit in Belgium at a maximum of six months in a row

Documents Required Companies and Self-Employed

  • Identity card Request form using an ID document of the primary driving force of the automobile in the event that this form is not able to make the request himself
  • Registration certificate of the vehicle, with an inscription on the vehicle called document DIV (Road Traffic Direction)
  • Certificate of employment or company’s statutes that confirm that the work performed by the company is within Brussels. City of Brussels (with mention of the address)
  • If more than 100 employees work for the business The demand for the company is in conjunction with an transportation plan for the company

Extra requirements for applicants who are not the driver of the car:

  • A company car:
    • the certification of the company that states that the applicant has right to use it for a long time
    • the corporate statutes or the extract from the Belgian Official Journal if the driver of the vehicle is an administrator or a manager of the company
    • If the business contracts with a leasing company, the leasing contract or certificate that proves the relationship between the leasing company and the business of the applicant
  • A personal lease vehicle:
    • lease contract
  • For a vehicle belonging to a third party:
    • A copy of the insurance policy where it states that the insured is the primary driver of the vehicle.

Note: If the applicant is not exempted from registration on the population register, they must provide the proof of protocol service from the SPF Foreign Affairs, on which the applicant’s name initials, first name, address, and household information appear.

The cards are given to managers, employees, or self-employed persons who work in Brussels.

Fees

The card is available at a cost of the sum of 375 euros.

Validity

It is good for one year..

Documentation is needed

The cards for parking issued to employees, managers of companies or self-employed persons in Brussels permits its holders to park their car within the boundaries of the industry for which they’ve applied.

This card is not valid in areas reserved exclusively for local residents or shared vehicles, neither in a red zone , nor in areas where the road markings are specific to the area required and there’s no exemptions for this type or municipal park card.

This card functions as a digital one The control is accomplished by means of licensing plate recognition.
