  1. The Act provides that anyone looking to carry out mining or prospecting on a small scale must apply for an Location License.

As per the Mining Regulations, 2004, Section 23(1)(a) A request for the granting of a location license pursuant to subsection 56(1) of the Act is to be submitted to the Commissioner on Formula V (for Classes V and VII location licenses) and Form IV (for any other classes apart from Class V or VII) as specified in the Regulations.
  4. Visit the office and get an application for a mining location permit from the department in question.

  8. The Commissioner approves the mining Location License pursuant to the provisions of Section 57(1). In accordance with The Mining Regulations, 2004 Section 23(3) The approval of a mining site license is to be made in form XXI as specified in the Regulations.
  9. Section 59(1) sets the term of the mining location license that is not more than two years. The renewals are with a duration not exceeding 2 years in only a single time.

  • Prospecting report endorsed in the Department of Geological Surveys or an original prospecting waiver.
  • Surveyed coordinates, outline plan, and area applied to obtain a Mineral location permit.
  • An archeological clearance document from Department of National Museum, Monuments and Art Gallery is required .
  • Removal from Department of Wildlife and National Parks in the event that the area is located within the national game reserve or park
  • A detailed feasibility report that outlines the proposed mineral’s location and the time needed to explore the mineral.
