Apply For Ornamental Fish Licence (Permit) In Uganda By Online
- Ornamental Fish permit is available by contacting the Ministry of Agriculture Animal industry and fisheries.
- Make a written request in writing for an ornamental license to the Fisheries resource manager within the directorate of fisheries at the directorate of Ministry of Agriculture animal and Fisheries.
- The applicant who is involved in the sale or possession of ornamental fish, must be eligible for an ornamental permit for fish at MAAIF.
- Any person who is involved in the sale or possession of ornamental fish seek an ornamental permit for fish at the rate prescribed by the Council.
- Fish Species should not be classified as endangered, and must be in compliance with the requirements of the council (where they are applicable). This information must be included in the application form.
- Complete the application form according to the instructions provided from the Ministry of Agriculture Animal industries and Fisheries.
- After filling out the form, follow the instructions to pay the fee and attach any required documents.
- Fill in the completed form together with pay slip as well as other pertinent documents for approval to Directorate for fisheries Ministry of Agriculture Animal industry and fisheries.
- Get permission from the Directorate for fisheries within the Ministry of Agriculture Animal industry and Fisheries. for ornamental species like the goldfish Japanese Higoi or Carp A special license is necessary from the department of Fisheries. Fisheries department.
- Certain ornamental fish species have been classified as notifiable or prohibited in Uganda and others are prohibited to import in Uganda.
- Take your Ornamental fish permit document from the place where you made your application within 7 days of the date your application was received by the ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Animal Industry If there isn’t a rejection.
- Anyone who sells, or has possession of decorative fish in the absence of a permit is guilty of an infraction.
- Anyone who cultivates ornamental fish with the intention of bringing them to selling in a facility which holds 10,000 litres or more of water must be a holder of an aquaculture permit.

Eligibility
To be eligible, one must have an ornamental producer unit for fish (factory) that is specifically designed and approved for processing of fish and other fish products in Uganda
Fee
The issuance of an ornamental fish permit is contingent on the payment of an amount. The criteria used to determine the amount of fees that must be paid to licensing authorities differ.
Validity
The license issued under the Act lasts for one year . It will expires on the 31st day of December each year.

Maximum processing time is 2 days.

Information that can be useful
- In accordance with the Fish Act, there is an inventory of species of fish classified as prohibited in Uganda.
- It is unlawful to own, purchase or sell any fish which is listed as prohibited in Uganda.
- For non-compliance, severe penalties are in place. Furthermore, Directorate of Fisheries department has the authority to seize and order the destruction of pests.
- Under the Fish Act ordinance Regulations there is a second list of species of fish which are notifiable. They are unlawful to keep, buy or sell in Uganda.
