What are all the Eligibility

Basic Requirements:

  • You have to fulfill the requirements of your residence permit.
  • You must be above 18 years old.
  • You have to have been legally within Denmark for at least six years. If you meet the four additional conditions (see the section below) you need to be legally resident within Denmark in the last four years. Find out for more information on legally-residence.
  • You cannot have committed a specific type of crimes.
  • You are not required to pay any outstanding public debts, unless you’ve received an extension to the due date for repayment. Learn more about the debt.
  • You cannot receive public benefits within the last three years, under the provisions of either the Active Social Policy Act or the Integration Act. Learn more about the benefits of public assistance.
  • You must accept the Declaration of acceptance of integration and active citizenship within Danish society. Learn more about the Declaration of Integration.
  • You must be able to pass an exam called the Danish exam for language 2 (Prve in Dansk) or the Danish test for language of a comparable or higher grade. Learn for more information about Danish language proficiency.
  • You must have been employed in at least a full-time job in a regular, full-time position or have been self-employed for a minimum of 2 years and six months in the past 3 years. Learn more about working.

Additional requirements:

  • You must pass an exam for active citizens or demonstrate an active citizenship status in Denmark. Read more about active citizen.
  • You must have been employed in an employment that is full-time and regular or worked for yourself for at least 4 years in the past 4 years and six months. Learn more about working.
  • It is required that you have an annual tax-deductible income that in the past two years was in the range of DKK 270.000 (2016 levels) or higher on an average. Find out more about the income.
