In Article 18, the constitution requires to the Government of Uganda to register every marriage that takes place in Uganda. It is the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) is the Government Agency responsible for this job. URSB oversees all laws that govern weddings in Uganda.

HOW to apply

  1. Afterthe wedding ceremonyis over, the bride and groom are required to be present with all the necessary documents and two witnesses in front of the sub-county chief of location in which the ceremony was held as well as the clerk of town when the wedding was held in a municipality or town.

  • The marriage registration is valid forever unless couple who are married decide to divorce one another.

A valid marriage certificate can provide benefits for example:

  • If you are applying for a visa for travel overseas, passport or citizenship, change of name, or divorce or divorce, the marriage certificate is required.
