Application to apply for steam vessel Licence can be downloaded from the directorate for water resources Ministry of water and Environment.

Here Are the necessary steps you need to be followed:

  1. In order to apply for a Steam vessel Permit The applicant needs to get in touch with the directorate of water resources Ministry of water and Environment.
  2. The application must be submitted in writing and include the required information on the Application Form. The application for a vessel permit is to be sent to the Directorate in the prescribed form B.
  3. The applicant should ensure that he/she is armed with all the documents required for this procedure to be successful . These documents are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. After determining that the application has met the requirements, and the steam vessel is properly fitted and is safe for navigate after which the Directorate of Water resources will issue a steam vessel Permit that outlines operating limitations and validity dates after 3 working days.
  5. A person who is applying for a job will be informed to pay the fee prescribed.

Notification: The master of each steam vessel that is on a river has to issue a licence for the vessel.

Instructions

  • The Rivers Act requires the master of each steam vessel that is in a river to get an authorization to operate the vessel. The license must be issued every year.
  • The captain of any steam vessel that fails to conform to the provisions of this section is guilty of an offence and could be subject in the event of conviction, to a fine that is not to exceed one hundred fifty shillings.

Information that could be helpful

  1. It’s not known if the license is actually being issued. While it is mentioned in the law however, it is not being issued by the Directorate of Water Resources Management that is charged with in enforcing the Act has not stated that it was one of those licenses that they grant.
  2. Additionally, the operation it aims to oversee is controlled through legislation known as the Inland Water Transport Control Act

Vessels in the following list shall be exempt from obtaining a vessel license:

  • Vessels used by government and military institutions as well as public Floating Stages and pontoons specifically used as platforms for people and cargo
  • Tax authorities have approved vessels to be scrapped upon applications supported by letters of verification issued by local administration departments for transport;
  • Fire engines, water sprinkler ambulances, ambulances, vessels garbage vans, ferryboats that are public, for example.
