  1. If you want to obtain a tour operator’s license, you’ll need to submit an application for Belize Tourism Board. Belize Tourism Board.

  3. Complete the application with the other documents required (see below for a list of documents).).
  4. Pay the non-refundable initial fees of BZD $50.00 and a license cost in the amount of BZD $250.00 made payable to BTB.
  5. It can take up to 2 weeks to get your application completed.

Required Documents  Apply for Tour Operator License 

  • The completed application form must be submitted.
  • Documentation of Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • A copy of the Business Registration documenting that the tour operator is registered legally
  • Copy of Memorandum and Articles Association, and Certificate of Registration (applicable to corporations)
  • Recommendation Letter from an individual who is part of the Tourism Community in Belize and is in good standing with the Board here at the Belize Tourism Board
  • Two photos of the company One of the interior and one of the outside
  • Two passport-sized photos of the person applying for admission, certified by an Justice of the Peace or Notary Public
  • Declaration that states it is the case that owner(s) did not file for bankruptcy in the last five years, as certified by a Justice of the Peace or Notary Public.
  • Original Police Record Copy (not more than six months old and required each 3 months) in the name of the owner(s)
  • The Certificate of Good standing and the Allotment of Shares (applicable to businesses)
  • Details of the personnel and guide guides. (Template provided. Copies of licenses should be provided)
  • Tour packages in detail (Template included. Per tour, you must have it.)
  • A checklist of safety gear required to conduct tours (Template included)
  • License, Registration and Passenger Liability Insurance for each vehicle and boat
  • A copy of the Public Liability Insurance/Tour Operator’s Insurance
  • A Plan of Emergency for the Travel Operator
  • Operator Trade License for Tour Operator Trade License

Notification: All necessary documents are required to be attached in copies, with the exception being the Police record, as originals are not returned.

Each license expires on the 31st of December . They must be renewed each year.

Licenses cannot be transferred or assigned.
