What Are All The Eligibility

Only the closest family members can request the death certificate.


  • For each certified duplicate of an entry from the register book maintained in the office of a Registrar, and for each certified duplicate of an entry made at the offices of the Registrar General (when the correct year is stated): $25.00

For each certificate of date of death, when the it is given as the correct year, which includes any certificate issued under subsection 44 under the Act: $15.00


  • The Registry Office only records deaths within the Cook Islands.
  • The law requires that deaths be recorded at least the three (3) days after the burial. If the body is not present and registration is not possible, it will be completed at the end of 7 (7) year. In the case of deaths that are not natural it is necessary to be patiently waiting for the Coroners report before registration can be completed.
  • When a death is recorded the death certificate can be given.
