  • The applicant must visit the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to apply for a License or register as a Designated Pilot Examiner.

  • To request a Designated Pilot Examiner Authorisation from a relevant department, send a letter of application to the NCAA office.
  • You should ensure that all documents required by this page are available to you.
  • Include the necessary documents along with your application form.
  • Next, submit the package in person to the Director General of the office for further processing.
  • The Authority will inform the applicant by writing after receiving the completed application and all attached documents.
  • The authority should conduct the required training and administer the test.
  • The Examiner will submit the report of the practical exam with any limitations and recommendations to the licensing agency after the test is passed.
  • After all conditions are met, the applicant will receive a letter of authorization.
  • Once the document has been completed, the applicant will be notified that the authorization has been collected. The authorisation will then be released to the applicant upon presentation of a letter or identification from the company.
  • A Letter of Denial will be sent to the applicant within 24hrs if the application is not satisfactory. It will inform the applicant about the reasons and give advice on how to fulfill his/her request.
  • The applicant must submit any outstanding documents to continue processing.

What are all the Eligibility

  • A candidate for designated pilot examiner must have a Class 1 medical card and be at least 21 years old.
  • The applicant must have at least the license and/or class/type ratings that are applicable to the examining authority.
  • The flight instructor ratings must be attained or a similar position such as check pilot, air operator or check pilot in an Approved Training Organisation.

Validity

The DPE Examiner designation shall be valid one year.

Processing Time

Within 48 hours, the application for Issue, Receiptisation will be processed.

Instructions

  • The Authority shall notify the Designated Pilot Examiner in writing of his responsibilities.
  • A pre-designation knowledge test must be passed by the applicant to become a pilot examiner.
  • A pilot examiner designation must be obtained by the applicant. The skill test will be conducted by an inspector from the Authority.
