  • In accordance with the provisions in the Foreign Trade Law of the Peoples Republic of China, export and import licenses cannot be purchased second-hand or revised, nor counterfeited. Anyone who violates the above rules are subject to prosecution in the criminal court.
  • Validity of the export and import licenses: The closing date for issuance of licenses for export and import is every December 31. Export licenses are valid for 3 months, and it cannot be more than the second month of the year prior to the current year’s quota. Import licenses are valid for a year and will not extend beyond 3 months in the year prior to the current year’s quota.
  • The renewal, extension, and alteration of licenses to export and import The extension and modification of export and import licenses must be based on an application of the license holder within the validity timeframe. Licenses are issued once the application is approved by the license authority.

License holders must take steps to prevent the loss of the licenses. If the license gets lost, the license holder must notify the licensing authority, accompanied by loss proof. The licensing authority shall communicate the loss to the MOFCOM and take the appropriate measures implemented by the ministry.
