How To Obtain a Death Certificate In China

The process for registering the death in China is different for each region and the location where the death occurred. For counties and cities which are under the watch under the supervision of the Ministry of Health for deaths and the causes of death, medical death Certificate is issued once the death has occurred. The certificate must be used to remove the Hukou registration as well as to be buried by the person who died. A medical death certificate is mandatory in areas covered by the Ministry of Health Surveillance, which included 85 counties and 41 cities in 2005. 10percent of the population is covered by this death surveillance system. About half of which is urban and the other half are rural. For those areas which aren’t part from the system of surveillance the usage of the regular Medical Certificate of Death Certificate is advised but is not required.
