  1. You can register your catering business at Uganda Registration Bureau. Uganda Registration Bureau. You may choose to sign up in the form of a restricted liability business (LLC) or another type of business, like an sole proprietorship, or a partnership.
  2. Once you have all your legal papers in place, Visit your Municipal council headquarters/division/city Authority near your location to start the Licence process.
  3. Choose the appropriate application form to apply for the License complete the form in and send the completed request form Municipal council Authority/ Division offices, where a catering trade license certificate is issued.
  4. The application for a Catering Licence is required to be submitted by an individual or a company and filed on the standard form. The application form should be submitted along with the other documentation required as well as the layout plans for the catering service.
    • If the premises are in private structures the applicants will also need to sign a tenancy and rent agreement with the Landlord particularly for the start-up business.
  5. Once you’ve completed to complete your application. Make sure you pay the catering licence fees according to the area of and grading before you submit your application to Municipal Authorities for Verification.
  6. After the application has been received authorities will confirm the information and provide the applicants with a receipt. Secure it for the next transactions. Authorities will notify you of the subsequent steps.
  7. It is the Municipality Health Department and food control division will conduct inspections to ensure the safety of the premises where food is served before an Licence is granted to ensure that catering conforms to the standards for food safety in Uganda.This is mandatory for any company which prepares food and serves it to the general public.
  8. Once all formalities are completed, applicants will be notified to pick up their Catering Licence. The Licence will be collected from the municipal authorities, city or division depending on the location of your establishment.

Notice:Grant or rejection of permission is the sole authority’s discretion. Check that the food offered by your catering service is safe for consumption by humans. In order to keep your catering license you must buy the products from approved suppliers and meet the municipal regulations to ensure food safety

Required Documents For Obtain Catering Business Trading License

  • Applicant must get Clearance from Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives for those who are not nationals.
  • New business: Original registration certificate (Business name)
  • Certificate of incorporation of an (Company)
  • The applicant must obtain approval from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau.
  • Original receipt from the municipality from the previous year, which indicates an existing business
  • The original rent and tenancy agreement from the Landlord for the business that is being established.

Eligibility

Any person carrying out business in Municipality/Division/Town/City/Kampala City Council Authority’s jurisdiction except those who are exempted under Section 8(2) of the Trade Licensing Act are eligible to obtain Trading license for catering service.

Fees

The owner of the trademark must pay the applicable license fee to the bank. The procedure is as follows:

Information that can be useful

  • The catering license isn’t only a certificate, but contrary, it acts as an endorsement by the authority . It also assures clients that the food served by this particular catering conforms to the food safety standards in Uganda.
  • This License confirms to your customers that they have eaten at a good place and have was in compliance with all safety guidelines.

Catering License could also be used to draw customers to your restaurant catering.
