  1. To have your car inspected make an appointment to have it checked by TCD. You can schedule an appointment at any time during normal business hours to any of the three testing locations. Remember that motorcycle tests must be taken at the principal TCD location.
  2. After your vehicle has passed the test, you must pay the registration fee for your first vehicle.
  3. The registration for the vehicle has to be renewed every year.

Exemptions from Annual Examinations:

Private cars are not subject to inspection after the second and fourth years of ownership. They must be registered, but the inspections for these years is waived.

Example: If you bought a vehicle during 2003 don’t have to get it checked in 2004 or the year 2006. If a vehicle is no longer owned by the original owner, the vehicle has to be examined every year.

Some classes of vehicles that are public-service have to be checked every two years. This includes: Taxis, Limousines, Mini-Buses, and Taxis.

Eligibility

Vehicles must be inspected by an TCD examiner before they are able to be licensed.

Notes:

  • When your automobile is inspected, you must pay the examination fee applicable to the vehicle (located in the above) as well as the fee for relicencing upon renewing.
  • TCD accepts cash and Master Card as well as Visa. There are no ATMs in any of the locations of TCD.

The registration for the vehicle has to be renewed each year.
