  • Input the application form to record your birth.
  • Complete the application form, together with the original copies of the documents listed below to the Consulate General of Gambia

  • You will receive one official copy of your birth certificate at no cost during the registration. Original copies will be given back to you.

Documents Required Register Birth

  • An extract from the Swedish Population Register (personbevis) providing details of the child’s full names as well as the date of birth recorded on the “folkbokfring” The extract should include full information of the parents’ names, dates and the place of birth.
  • A hospital birth certificate that clearly states the hospital where your child was born or a written confirmation of the mother’s name, along with the date and location of the birth that your infant.
  • The marriage certificate of the parents If applicable.
  • If the parents are not married “declarations regarding paternity” should be signed by both parents and witnessed through the Consulate or Notary Public. Forms can be obtained from the Consulate General.
  • A replica of Gambian documents of the passports of both parents.

In Gambia there is no requirement to register the birth of a child. However, in doing so, you’ll receive a birth certificate that is Gambian in style and an irrevocable record of your birth in the consulate general.
