Sure. Yes, there were some female students in my EE classes 55-years ago.
Four years ago, the group I was in at my current job had a female EE (one among four engineers). I took over her responsibilities after she left for the East Coast a few years later.
While the field has been dominated by men for a long time, there is no reason why women should not be interested in engineering and science. As far as I know, there is no discrimination based on gender.
