  1. You can apply to register for voluntary contributions to the National Housing Trust by clicking this link: Link
  2. First, ensure that you are registered with Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ), and that you have a valid Tax Register Number (TRN).
  3. You can then obtain the application form to make a voluntary contribution from the NHT office near you or online through the NHT website Link.
  4. Please complete the application as directed. Please note that you should not use correction fluid on the Form
  5. All required documents should be prepared and attached to the application form
  6. To schedule an interview about your application, contact the NHT. On the interview day, visit the NHT office along with all documents and the application. (If you are unable or unwilling to attend an interview, you will need to submit an authorization letter for your representative/agent. This letter must be signed, stamped, and dated by a Justice of the Peace (J.P ).
  7. Submit your application to the NHT service.
  8. After submitting your application, you will be directed towards the interview section.
  9. Participate in the interview, and your registration details will then be entered in the NHT system.
  10. After you have registered as a voluntary contributor, the registration documents will be sent to you. You must pay your monthly contribution by the 14th of each month.

Eligibility

  • Jamaicans of Jamaican descent who are citizens or permanent residents of the country where they reside and are of legal age. Also, you must be employed or have a steady income.
  • Voluntary contributors are pensioners who wish to contribute to the NHT.

Instructions

  • You will have to wait two years if you have not contributed to the NHT before you can access any benefit. Please note that you must make your monthly payments on time for the 12 month immediately preceding the date you apply for a loan. This means that your monthly payments must be made by the 14th of each month.
  • If you were a contributor in the past and wish to make your contributions again to the Trust, the waiting period is one year. You must make your monthly payments on time during the 12 months preceding your loan application.
  • Voluntary Contributors can apply for contributions refunds. These will be paid in Jamaican dollars directly to the Contributor. The refund will be applied towards the principal of your loan account if the Contributor are NHT Mortgagors.

  • According to the National Housing Trust Act, a Voluntary contributor is someone who has been granted a certificate authorizing them to make voluntary contributions. You will be able access housing benefits if you are a registered contributor.
