What is the scope of electronics and electrical (EEE)?

Let’s say you choose to take the BE/Btech course in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. There are many opportunities. See below:

EEE/EE gives you the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of mechanical,Civil and CSE branches over the long-term (Assuming you are younger than 32 years old for GENERAL CANDIDATES)

Opportunities for EEE

  1. A Graduate in EEE can go for Diverse fields whether it is PSU Job,Core Sectors like Construction & Steel,IT Industry,Consultancy/Finance Job,Electronics Design and a myriad of Profiles like Business Development Associates,Content Development Manager etc.
  2. You can explore Consultancy Domains and are eligible to write UPSC IES (Indian Engineering Services).
  3. You can also appear for PSUs like AIRPORT Authority of INDIA where Electrical & Electronics Students are allowed along with ECE students for post of Junior Executive(Electronics). This means that if your BE/Btech is in Electrical Engineering, you will not be eligible to fill the form unless you are BE/Btech or ECE,EEE. (Status at 09-OCT-15)

About Branch: EEE is very similar to Electrical Engineering (although there are differences in the courses of Curriculum at different universities). It is not a CAKEWALK if you HATE Fouries series, Laplace Transforms and DTFT, or other mathematic tools.

Private companies tend to visit top colleges, so you will have a very limited window if your studies are in Tier 2, Tier 3 colleges. I’m only providing information assuming that you have good IITs/NITs, etc.

Electronics niche roles:Companies such as Sankalp Semiconductor and Free Scale,NI,Texas Instuments, etc. (where ECE students are generally eligible)


Companies like Tata Steel,Mahindra,Tata Motors,Electro Steel,JSW Steel,Uttam Galva Steel,Magnetti Marelli,Exide,etc(Options along with MECH,CHEMICAL,POLYMER,PRODUCTION students)

Government Job Opportunities

  1. A Rank within 500 in GATE EE Paper opens opportunities to Join IOCL,BBNL,NTPC,ONGC,NLC,PGCIL,BPCL and other MAHARATNAS,NAVRATNAS PSU
  2. There are STATE PSUs that have a majority of vacancies from Civil,Mechanical, and Electrical. State PSUs like TSGENCO,MAHADISCOM,TSTRANSCO,TSNPDCL and State Public Service Commissions like OPSC,UKPSSC etc which conduct their own Exams for AEE Recruitment
  3. Opportunities to join in Bureau of Indian Standards Scientist (Board of Indian Standards Scientist B),National Productivity Council,GRSE/ISRO (Electronics Scientist).
  4. Most sought-after Exams: UPSC Civil Services with Electrical Optional Paper and Indian Engineering Services (UPSC ESE).

Higher Education Prospects

  1. After graduation from IIT or NIT, you can apply for MTech/ME. You can also complete Mtech in DGFS at BARC.
  2. After QUALIFYING GUATE, you can opt for the PGDIE (Post Graduate Diploma In Industrial Engineering) at NITIE, Mumbai. You will also receive good pay packages from SCM (Supply Chain Management Companies).
  3. ISI Kolkata also offers Mtech in QROR. ISI-MTECH (QROR).

EEE branch has unlimited scope, provided you choose which option to opt in the near future. EEE degree will open up a world of possibilities, but you must make use of it to succeed.

Who should choose EEE?

EEE is recommended for those who wish to join the PSU/Govt Sector long-term. EEE degrees will allow you to take exams and enable you to SWITCH FROM MASS RECRUITER into your dream sector.

If you want to work in government, be optimistic and go to tier2,tier3 college.
