What’s the difference between an electronics technician and an electronics engineer?

A technician is able to build and test circuits, and can often do so better than an engineer. Engineers are supposed to understand why we are testing and can interpret the results from both a theoretical and an experience-based perspective.

Although a skilled technician can design circuits of varying complexity, they are unlikely to be able to find an optimal solution that covers all the operating ranges of the application.

The technician is skilled at the job. Engineers have a little more education and training to help them understand the importance of work and how to optimize it.
