Updates to “key datas” need to be sent to the registration centers of the authority where you’ll be required to provide your ID card as well as documents to confirm the application. If you want to make changes that involve “non-key datas” the application can be made by going to the registration centre or kiosk for electronic services of the authority.

The Document is required

The Emirates Identity Authority is in charge of developing the population Registry System in UAE. It is responsible for the registration of individuals’ personal information and civil matters for UAE residents and non-residents who reside in the country and issuing an ID card to every registered person. This Identity Card is made of the plastic material of polyester, referred to in the industry as (Melinex). The card is engraved with the name as well as the nationality and gender of the person holding it. The date on which the card was issued is included on the card.

The chip inside the card stores personal information to be read by the card automatically during transactions which require the owner to present proof of identity and proof of identity. Some of these data are encrypted and only readable/writable/updatable by the authorized authorities in order to protect the privacy of data. The chip can contain up to 32 000 documents. Cardholders must refresh their personal data and other information stored on the chip that is part of their ID card in the event of any modifications. These changes could be applied to “key datas” such as names, nationality, and dates of birth of the ID owner. Changes to the address or job of the holder will be included in”non-key data “non-key details” category.

  • It is not recommended to alter erase, modify, or alter the ID Card
  • You must carry your ID Card at all times and show it when is required by law. Also, follow the dates and procedures necessary for renewal, replacement or delivery of an ID Card.
  • Inform the authorities of any changes in the information of the card within one month from the date of the change.
  • The loss of ID card to the Emirates ID service centre within 7 days of the date of loss.
  • Request a replacement card for the lost or damaged card and pay the proper fee and submit an acknowledgment to prove that your ID was not being used or reserved by any authority or organisation.
  • Contact the closest Emirates ID service center within 7 days of discovering that the ID card is either partially or completely damaged, rendering it unusable to fulfill the purpose it was intended for. In this situation the cardholder must request a replacement card for the damaged or lost cards and pay the proper fee.
  • Don’t leave your ID card with any company in the absence of a ruling or judgment issued by a court of competent jurisdiction.
  • If you come across the ID card of another person, present it to the closest Emirates ID service center or to the closest police station.

Note All card holders are required to adhere to the guidelines above. Legal guardian or their successor should take the charge of implementing these directions.
