 Apply for a Driver License In Mali By Yourself

  1. First time applicants you must enroll yourself into a diving school but no law requires the applicant to train in driving lessons prior to taking the driving tests to get a driving licence in Mali.
  2. Visit to the Regional Transport Directorate at the driving license section or the transportation subdivision located at the Circle level close to you.
    • Gather the necessary forms and correctly fill themin;
    • Pay all the necessary fees at the cashier’s counter at which point you will be issued an invoice.
    • Attach all required documents (listed below) as well as
    • Submit the documents to be checked and recorded.
  3. The director of the permit department registers the file and forwards this file to the inspector who confirms the compliance and attaches the visa.
  4. The file is sent to the secretariat of the driving licence division to be registered, and then it is sent to the inspector in charge of scheduling a date of the theory and the practical exam. The exams are usually held between Tuesday and Thursday.
  5. Following the exam after the examination, the inspector drafts an report that includes the complete list of admissions.
    • Note: If a candidate is unsuccessful for one time he/she has to come back the next week. If they fail a second time, he/she has to reapply after the next month. In the event of six unsuccessful attempts the applicant was able to resume under the same conditions as the new candidate.
  6. Candidates who have passed the exam will be issued the certificate of their success (indicating the name of the candidate, his the date of his birth, the license category and the date of the test)
  7. The files of successful candidates are delivered directly to the Director of Regional, who issues the candidate with a temporary driving license within 7 days. This permits the candidate to drive for a specified period of time.
  8. The file slip of the candidate is then forwarded into the National Directorate of Transport, to the “Production of Transport Documents” division to register in the national file and for issue of a driver’s license number.
  9. “Production of Transport Documents” division “Production of Transportation Documents” division issues the driving License which is signed by the Director of National or his assistant.
  10. The document is returned via form to Regional Directorate from where it originated and is recorded with the driving licence division within a month.
  11. The applicant must then go to then the Regional Directorate, Secretariat of the section for driving licenses and bring the proof of receipt or the receipt for the temporary license along with your identification card for verification and the license issued when you have paid the fee for the license.

Eligibility

  • You are attained the legal age of 18 years and above for a motor license for vehicles and 16 years or above for a motorcycle license
  • You’ve completed the driving test and are competent to drive in that type of motor vehicle, and also hold the certificate of competency.
  • You present a medical certification from a doctor, which states that you are physically fit enough to drive in the class or class of motor vehicle that you are attempting to drive.

Fees

Driving schools:

  • The course of study to get the heavy vehicle permit = 150,000 FCFA

Driver’s license:

Validity

The renewal of the license is not for the light-duty vehicle, but instead categories C D and E which means regular transport vehicles and heavy-duty vehicles. It is renewed every five years until the age between 18 and 45 for the license the holder. After four years, renewals are made every three years and, after 55, it is every two years.

Note: For permit A or B renewals can be only done if it is necessary;
