When the notice is acknowledged by the Register of Marriages and he or she can issue a Certificate of Recognition allowing the couples to legally celebrate their wedding.

Eligibility

People who are planning to marry must be Malawians of 21 years or above.
Marriages that are solemnized in accordance with any personal law may be legally registered.

Processing Time

The process takes about 21 days take a marriage certificate to Malawi.

Instructions

The newly weds must sign the marriage certificate the wedding within three months.
A marriage agreement is primarily subject to the Marriage Act.
One of the parties has to reside in the area where the wedding will be held fifteen days before the issuance of the marriage certificate.
The parties should be old or age or older , or the parties are not in the prohibited ranges of marriage, and the couple is not married, or when married in a customary manner the couple is tied to one another.
