Validity

It is worth noting that the New Zealand Passport is valid for a maximum of five years. The validity period begins from when the passport was issued up to the date of expiry.

An New Zealand passport is issued to residents of Niue to travel internationally.

You’re a citizen when that you are born within New Zealand, Niue, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands or Tokelau before 1 January 2006. Children born after January 1, 2006 are New Zealand citizens if one of their parents were citizens or a permanently resident in New Zealand, Niue, Tokelau, Cook Islands or Tokelau at the time of their child’s birth.

If you submit your application through an New Zealand Embassy or High Commission or Consulate office, an additional charge of NZ$50.00 is due.

The payment is made directly to the diplomatic office in the exchange rate of the state you’re in. Note that not all diplomatic offices offer this service.

If your passport is delivered to a different address instead of the diplomatic post at which you made your application, the applicable international courier cost will be charged.

If you wish to have your passport to be delivered in another country other than the country in which you are filing your application then you must pay a courier charge to be delivered. The cost for international couriers will differ based on the location to which the new passport will be delivered.

International delivery may come with additional costs and charges, which are imposed for example , by customs, the Courier Company and/or customs of the country in which the passport you have received is delivered. These charges and fees can never be paid prior to delivery at the Department of Internal Affairs, instead they must be directly paid to the courier and/or customs by the person who is applying for the country where delivery is made.
