Required Documents For Temporary Driver License
- Hong Kong Identity Card (original);
- Relevant travel document (e.g. passport) (original);
- Driving license valid in the country of origin (original);
- An official authenticated translation of an foreign driving licence if it’s in a different language than English and Chinese;
- Other relevant documents (original);
- Address evidence (residential address and address for correspondence) provided within the past 3 months (e.g. water/electricity/gas/mobile phone bill or bank correspondence);
- Medical Examination Report Form TD256 filled out by a licensed medical professional (only for applicants who are 70 and above) and
- Fees for required (you can make inquiries at the counters for enquiries of licensing offices or by calling the 1823 Call Centre Refer to the table of license fees (TD341) within the license offices or visit the Transport Department’s website for more information).

The hours of operation of all four offices for licensing is according to:
- Monday through Friday from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. (open for lunch hours)
- The offices are closed Saturdays Sunday, Public Holidays and Sundays.

What are all the Eligibility
- Have a valid driving licence whose issuer’s country or the location is not listed in Appendix C.
- You can apply for a test of driving within 3 months of the date of your arrival to Hong Kong; and
- Complete any of the conditions listed below:
- were in the overseas country or the country of issue for at least 6 months from the time that the licence was issued or
- were in possession of the license for five years or more prior to the time of the application or
- possess a passport or similar travel document issued by the country of the jurisdiction where you received the permit.
- If you fail any portion of the driving test your temporary license to drive will be revoked immediately.
