- The plates you want to get: Follow the instructions on the forms you. Be aware that the Government plate manufacturing and transaction costs will be paid by the business if you request that your plates be produced within the 90-day period of payment’s complete. If, however, you request plates manufactured outside of those 90 days,, you are required to pay the applicable fees directly to the plate maker after requesting your plates.
- After all your information is in and the payment to manufacture the license plate has completed, the delivery will usually take place within 7-10 days for a standard personalized plate.

Processing Time
Once all your personal details are in and the funds for the production of the license plate has completed, the delivery will usually take place within:
- 7-10 working days to receive the standard personalized plate
- up fifteen working days in the case of Graphic plates (e.g. Message, Euro, Flame, Flower, Star Signs etc.)

Personalised plate:
- Characters:
- For trucks or cars There is the possibility of having as many as six characters.
- For trailers, motorcycles, or tractors: You are restricted to the maximum of 5 characters.
- Spacing In the event that you do not have more than the maximal amount of characters you can have on your plate, there is a possibility of having some space in your plates. Spaces that are full can be broken into 1/2 and 1/4 space. Additionally, for each “I” or “1” you have in your kitchen, you’ll get another 1/2 space to explore.
All plates sold in NZ including personalized plates are manufactured through The Government Plate Manufacturer. Rights to be issued a certain number of letters/numbers is sold through Personalised Plates Ltd.
The Document is required
You can get a personalized plate even if your do not have any vehicle. But, to obtain your plates, they need to be mounted on an already registered and licensed (in NZ) vehicle (and put on the vehicle within five days after receiving the plates).
