Apply for Permit (License) to Import Cotton seed and Plant In Malawi By Yourself

Make sure you have all the necessary documents and then visit the cotton council office to seek the council’s approval.
Make sure you submit your application with your intention to pay and import the application fee.
The council will examine the application and determine if they is in compliance with the standard requirements, they will accept the application. They will also request the form for a phytosanitary certificate.
Visit the department of Agriculture research to obtain the phytosanitary certification and then submit it to the cotton council.
The council will then give approval to your application as well as an endorsement for the Ministry of industry and trade to recommend the issuance of the permit.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade will prepare and issue you with the permission

Supplier’s Commercial invoice
Declaration of Value Form 19
Cargo manifest/bill of lading for land and maritime cargo, or air way invoice for cargo on the air
Shipping invoices or freight invoices
Certificate of Origin (to gain access to special trade treatment)
The phytosanitary certificate
Identification documents
Taxpayer Identification Number

This certificate proves that you’re permitted to import cotton seeds and grow in Malawi
