Apply For Register a Small Vessel in Dominica
- All documents must be submitted in order to register a small boat in the Commonwealth of Dominica Local Registry.
- Complete the application with the other documents required.
- Make sure you pay all fees necessary.
Required Documents For Register a Small Vessel
Small commercial Vessels (less then 24 meters):
- Application for an Official Number Call Sign, Registration of Vessel
- The proof of authority of the agent or Officer who is executing registration documents
- Evidence of Ownership the Bill of Sale, or Builders Certificate
- Consent of Government of the present Registry for transfer, if relevant
- Agent in the country of registration or Home Port
- For vessels to be licensed for the very first time An initial inspection must be conducted against guidelines set in the Small Commercial Vessels (SCV) Code.
- An approval from the Marine Safety officer or the Officer in charge , stating that the vessel is registered
- Minimum Safe Manning Certificate
- Evidence that all fees were paid
- Certificate of Inspection
- Evidence of a satisfactory liability insurance coverage that is approved by the Administration
For vessels with less than 500 GT and 24 metres or longer in length:
- Application for an Official number, call sign, and registration of the vessel
- Documentation of Authorization of Agent or Officer who is executing registration documents
- Certificate of Ownership A Bill of Sale, Proof of Ownership or Builder’s Certificate
- A valid proof of liability insurance that is approved from the Maritime Administration
- Consent of Government of the present Registry in transfer the registry if appropriate
- Mortgage Recordation If it is applicable
- Minimum Safe Manning Certificate
- A certificate from the Marine Safety Officer, or the officer in charge , stating that the vessel is registered
- For vessels being licensed for the very first time: an first survey must be conducted. Standards in Code of Safety for Caribbean Cargo Ships (CCSS Code)
- Agent to be established in country of registration/Homeport
To register a yacht, Application for an Official Number Call Sign, registration of vessel:
- Certificate of ownership Building Certificate, Bill of Sale
- Consent of the current government Registry to Transfer, if relevant
- An approval from the Marine Safety officer or the Officer in Charge stating that the vessel is registered
- Evidence of adequate liability insurance coverage that has been approved by the Administration
- Documentation of Authorization of Agent or Officer who has registered documents
- For vessels being licensed for the very first time, an initial inspection or survey stating that the vessel is in compliance with all the standards set in the Codes
- Mortgage Recordation If appropriate
- A minimum Safe Manning Certificate, if it is applicable
- The proof that all the necessary fees were paid

What are all the Eligibility
The following vessels may be registered with the Commonwealth of Dominica Local Registry:
- An owner of a vessel who is a resident from Dominica, the Commonwealth of Dominica
- The vessel is owned and operated by person of a different CARICOM State
- A vessel that is not legally required to have its classification certified by an Recognized Classification Society, under the rules of International Maritime Regulations.
