This application is designed to verify the marriage status for non-Muslims Malaysian citizens who want to get married abroad. The application can only be made in the Nation Registration Department (NRD) headquarters in Putrajaya or via post.

Apply in the person of:

  1. The first step is to get a an official declaration from the government or take your Oath in the Istana Kehakiman (Palace of Justice).You must make a payment of RM4 to get this procedure.
  2. Once you have taken your oath, visit Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) located at the NRD office on 1st floor to obtain your Single Status Certificate. Find the queue number to submit your application and wait for your turn.in the meantime, you can apply for the certificate and complete it.
  3. If it’s your turn to be called, fill out the form along with all required documentation and then pay the cost of RM5. The officer will review the documents and your details will be called back for you to select the certificate you want to receive. The processing time is between 15 and 20 minutes.
  4. The certificate must be endorsed with the stamp of Wisma Putra (Ministry of International Affair).Go into Wisma putra which is located just to the right of the entrance . You can request the official at the counter for the number. Then go into their counter for your certificate. Pay an amount of RM10 to have your certificate stamped.

  • The form JPN.KC09 must be completed in full including your ID numbers, the names of spouses, dates and the place of wedding.
  • MyKad (photocopy from MyKad when applying via post).
  • A photocopy of the passport pages that contain the personal information of a potential spouse who is non-citizen.
