Apply for Single Status Certificte / Verify Marital Status In Malysia By Yourself

This application is designed to verify the marriage status for non-Muslims Malaysian citizens who want to marry in another country. Applications are only accepted through the Nation Registration Department (NRD) headquarters in Putrajaya or via post.

Apply in the person of:

  1. The first step is to get a an official declaration from the government or swear your oath at the Istana Kehakiman (Palace of Justice).You must make a payment of RM4 in order to avail this services.
  2. Once you have taken your oath, visit Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) located at the NRD office on 1st floor to request your Single Status Certificate. You will need to take the queue number for the application and then wait for your turn.in the meantime, you can make an application and complete it.
  3. When you are ready to be called, fill out the form along with all required papers and the required fee of RM5. The officer will review the documentation and your name will be called to allow you to choose the certificate you want to receive. The processing time is approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. You can get the certificate certified with the stamp of Wisma Putra (Ministry for Foreign Affair).Go there to Wisma putra which is located just to the right of the entrance . You can request the official at the counter for an identification number. Go straight to their counter to present your certificate. You will need to pay the fee of RM10 to have your certificate certified.

Applications must be submitted via post to the NRD headquarters in Putrajaya at this address.

Required Documents For Apply for Single Status Certificte / Verify Marital Status

  • The form JPN.KC09 must be filled out completely including identification number (ID), the names of spouses, dates and location of wedding.
  • MyKad (photocopy from MyKad when applying via post).
  • Photographic copy of passport pages with the details of the prospective spouse who is non-citizen.

  • The declaration of a statutory requirement stating the status of marriage for the applicant. If the applicant lives outside the country, the declaration must be submitted to an Malaysian representative in the country. (ORIGINAL)
