How To Apply New Passport In Costa Rica

For an application for a passport renewal visit the consulate in your area and fill out your application.
The Consulate’s formalities could last for about an hour.
Once you’ve completed your application, the documents will be sent through the Passport Section of the Directorate of Immigration and the Directorate of Immigration, who issue the passport.

Documents Required New Passport

Photocopy of expired passport
Photocopy of valid identity document from both sides. If a minor is present birth certificate, it must be provided
Two passport size color photos
Consular stamps

Request a replacement passport because of loss or theft:

Letter addressed to Directorate General of Immigration explaining the reasons for no passport, clearly stating when, how and the location of the lost or stolen.
A copy of the report from that police investigation. If the officer refuses to extend the report, ask for the identified case number and the the name and address of the official.
Photocopy of identity card valid from both sides. If a minor is present, need to present an original birth certificate.
Two passport size color photographs.
Consular stamps.
