Obtain Driver Licence (DL) In Malawi By Online

  1. To apply for a driver’s license (DL) go to the Road Traffic Directorate Office.
  2. Applications forms to get the DL are available at service counters, or you can download one on the website (link is under the “Documents to Use’).
  3. Fill out an application form, and if necessary medical certificates.
  4. Also, you must submit two photos of yourself.
  5. The application fees must be paid.
  6. Before a driver’s permit is given at your request, you have to first pass the test for driving.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be at least age to qualify for the category of vehicle and/or permit requested.
  • Unqualified from obtaining or holding any learner’s licence or driving licence or international driving permit, nor professional driving licence
  • A learner’s licence or driving licence, nor an international driving permit, or professional driving permit that I have held me in the past three years was cancelled or suspended.
  • Don’t suffer from any one of these illnesses or impairments:
    • Epilepsy uncontrolled;
    • Giddiness that is disabling and sudden attacks or fainting caused by hypertension or another disease;
    • Any type of mental illness to the degree that it is essential for the person to be held, monitored and controlled. The applicant is treated as a patient under the terms of the legislation on mental health;
    • Any problem that results in muscle incoordination
    • Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus;
    • Any other condition or impairment that could make the applicant ineffectively driving and managing motor vehicles of the type that is being sought on the road without risking the safety of others.
  • Do not become dependent on the use of any substance that has an narcotic affect or excessive consumption of intoxicating liquor.
  • The applicant must meet the minimum vision requirements set forth in the regulation 7 for the category of vehicle that they are applying for. They must not suffer from vision impairment when wearing: NO correctional lenses or CORRECTIVE LENSES
  • The applicant must not suffer from any medical issue that renders him/her ineligible to hold an driving license in the terms of the

regulations in the Road Traffic Act and regulations as well as for the purpose of driving motor vehicles
