How To Obtain Firearms (Gun) License In Costa Rica

- Requests for the permit to carry firearms on behalf of people are handled in The Firearms and Expensives Licenses Department(see the contact details below).
- Submit an application it with other documents. It is possible that you will be asked to provide a medical certificate for verification. To find out the other documents be required make contact with the Firearms and Explosives Licensing Department.
- Make payment for the fee of application.
- It can take up to 30 days for the application to be considered. The issuing authority will decide whether you’re fit to carry an firearm.

For those who are:
- Go to www.controlpas.go.cr, and login to your account.
- Choose the service you’re applying for and then fill out the online application.
- Follow the steps for how to provide the necessary documents prior to the time a permit for carrying guns is given.
