Obtain Learner Licence (LL) In Malawi By Online

  1. For an application for a learner’s license (LL) go to the Road Traffic Directorate Office.
  2. The application forms to apply for the LL can be obtained at counters at the service counters, or you can download one on the website (link is under the “Documents to Use’ section).
  3. Bring an original photocopy of your ID that is valid.
  4. Additionally, you need to submit two photos of yourself.
  5. Make payment for the fee of application.
  6. Before you can obtain your license, you need to be able to pass the test.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be of the minimum age for the category of vehicle and/or permit requested.
  • Unqualified from obtaining or holding any learner license driving licence, driving licence international driving permit, professional driving licence
  • No learner’s license or driving licence, nor an international driving permit, or professional driving permit that I have held me in the last three years has been cancelled or suspended.
  • You should not be suffering from one of these conditions or impairments:
    • Epilepsy that is not controlled;
    • Giddiness with a giddiness problem that’s sudden or fainting caused by hypertension or other diseases;
    • Any mental illness to the extent that it is required for the patient to be held, monitored and controlled, as a patient under the terms of the mental health laws;
    • Any medical condition that causes muscle incoordination
    • Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus;
    • Any other condition or impairment which could make the applicant ineffectively controlling and driving an automobile in the class he or she is applying for while driving without putting at risk the safety of others.
  • Do not become dependent on the use of any drugthat produces an narcotic affect or excessive consumption of intoxicating liquor.
  • The applicant must meet the minimum vision requirements set forth in the regulation 7 for the category of vehicle that they are applying for. They must not suffer from a deficiency of vision when wearing: NO correctional lenses or CORRECTIVE LENSES
  • The applicant must not suffer from any medical issue that renders him/her unfit to hold an driving license in the terms of the

requirements contained in Road Traffic Act and regulations and to be used for driving the motor vehicle
