- Completely submit the application directly to Malawi Energy Regulation Authority via the following address MERA private bag B496, Capital City, Lilongwe 3, Malawi.

- A licensing official will be notified of your application. MERA will acknowledge the receipt of your application in writing within 30 days of the day they received it.
- The licensing office will send your application on to Energy Technical and Licensing committee of MERA which will review the application and dispatch an inspector to check your property.
- You will be informed about the inspection, and you or your representative are legally required to be present during the inspection.
- Inspectors will carry out the audit, and will forward the report of the inspection to the Energy Technical and Licensing committee
- The committee will then review the report and , if it finds an acceptable conclusion it will make an opinion towards the MERA main board.
- The Main board will meet and decide on whether or not they will issue the permit

- The license is renewed at expiry.
