Application for this license requires a series of steps that include police examinations, a teacher training course and an test.

  1. Permits or Licences for instructors ‘ Licence is available at the Transport licensing Board
  2. First step to select the application form . The applicant must be of the age of 18 years old and free of any physical or mental disabilities which could hinder the ability of an applicant to guide others on the use of motor vehicles.
  3. The applicant must pass a driving test that tests the ability of driving, the application of the laws of the road along with personal driving habits, and the application of the techniques of instruction prior to filling out an application.
  4. Apply on the correct form, as outlined by the Transport Licensing Board.
  5. The applicant must take an examination to test their instructional capacity in driving, driving ability and understanding of the laws of the road prior to issue of the Licence.
  6. The operational record of the applicant should prove that the applicant has good character.
  7. After filling out the form, complete the form and pay the fee.
  8. Complete the duly filled-in form, along with your payment slips to the officer who is Licensing who is in charge of the region.
  9. Get your instructor’s licence from the municipality where the application was made within one day of the date your application was received by the municipality , in case there is no rejection.
  10. The transportation licensing board can deny issuance of a license in light of the information that is contained in the operating record, in accordance with the provisions in the Regulations.
  11. Renewals are possible by submitting new application forms after passing any tests as can be required by the Director, and then paying.

Eligibility

  • have reached the age of 25 or older.
  • Possess a valid Ugandan driver’s license
  • be mentally and physically capable
  • Have a good driving record;
  • Not been found guilty of a crime within the past (5) five years.
  • Applicant must be of 25 years and over.
  • The instructor should have been trained for instructors.
  • Five years in the classes of vehicles that you would like to teach.
  • Anyone who wants to apply for an instructor’s license for driving must be able to pass the vision test.
  • You’ll need to take a physical and perhaps a mental health screening prior to being eligible.
