Apply for Passport in Hong Kong By yourself
There are two kinds of applications, local application and an overseas application. Choose and fill out the appropriate application form for the specific category you’re applying for.

- Use block letter pens and blue or black inked pencils to complete your application. For applicants who are younger than 16 years old age applicants the application form should be signed by a parent , or legal guardians.

Other than replacement for a damaged or lost passports The application into the drop-in boxes to process the application for travel documents at any Immigration Office.
Online
Other than replacement for a damaged or lost passports, or changes to personal information in passports, you may apply online If you meet the requirements in the following:
- qualified to apply for the HKSAR Passport
- aged 11 or over
- You can collect your passport in person at the designated Immigration Office
NOTE:Unmarried applicants aged 11 and 17 must be accompanied with a consenting parents or guardians to allow the collection of their passports in person and to sign his or her signature to the application form.
For those 18 years old and over
- Apply online using the appropriate form.
- Upload a recent photo that is in line with the standard, as well as a copy of your current ID card that is permanent.
For those who are 16 or 17 years old
- Fill out the online application form.
- Upload the following information:
- Recent photo that is in line with the standards
- duplicate of your current permanent identification card (PIC)
- A copy of your consenting parent or Guardian’s Hong Kong identity card or an official travel document that is valid
- Copy of the birth certificate
- If you are married, a the letter of consent from your parents or guardianship is not required. All you need is an original copy of your wedding certificate will be required.
For 11-15 years old
- Fill out the online application form.
- Upload the following files:
- Recent photograph that is up to date and meets the standards
- Copy of your permanent identification card (PIC)
- A copy of your consenting parent or Guardian’s Hong Kong identity card or an official travel document that is valid
- Copy of the birth certificate

Required Documents For Passport
- Form for application that is appropriate
- Colored photo with a plain backdrop of white (40mm (width) 50mm (height))
- Copy of your current Hong Kong permanent identity card (PIC) along with any other documents supporting your identity (if you have any)
- Consenting parental or guardian’s Hong Kong identity card or valid travel documents (for those aged 17 and under applicants)
- Birth certificate for the child (for those aged 17 and under applicants)

Processing Time
The processing time for normal applications will take 10 days once all of the documents in complete form are received. For online applications, it will take an additional 2 to 3-day working time.
