How To Obtain a Copy of Birth Certificate In Austria
- The request for an original replica from the birth certificate, or the international birth certificate should be sent to the relevant authority.
- The application can be made in person, by writing, or electronically (with citizens’ card in hand). The application form is available from the relevant authority or downloaded from the internet.
- Complete other necessary documents and pay any fees required.
- The certificate needs to be picked up in person, and typically happens right following the application.

What Are All The Eligibility
The person who is entitled to request an original copy of their birth certificate:
- The persons who are the subject of the record or any other person who’s status as a civil person is affected by this entry
- Anyone who has an interest that is legal in the acceptance, unless an overriding legitimate reason for the person referred to in the registration. This precludes
- Public bodies and authorities to enforce the laws

Birth Certificates issued: 9.30 EUR (7.20 EUR 2.10 EUR German Federal Tax and administrative fee)
NOTE:
- Beginning January 1, 2008 applications for and issuance of birth certificate/international birth certificate that are caused directly by the birth of a child, unless it is issued within two years from the birth of the child, are free of charge (does not apply for requesting duplicate copy due to loss or theft ).
