Foreign citizens of Indian origin must be eligible to apply to apply for Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) to enable his/her visa to reside and perform work India for a period of time.

  • On the new page you will need to fill in the instructions with the relevant information as suitable in the “OCI registration Form” and then click “Save and Continue” button.
  • The applicant must follow the remainder of the procedure by complying with the prompts including uploading of documents and photos.
  • After the online application has been successful, the applicant is issued an acknowledgment. Save it for later references.
  • Follow the instructions to meet the official designated at the Indian Post/Mission/FRROs concerned. Bring the originals of documents submitted online for cross-checking.
  • After verification of the documents and the appropriate action is taken by the official will result in “Uploaded documents checked by originals and verified to be authentic” option box that has a an asterisk in the online application.
  • The applicant receives a proper acknowledgment and notification via email address.
  • The remainder of the internal procedure provides OCI card in accordance with notice.

Required Documents For Overseas Citizen of Registration (OCI)

  • Evidence of current citizenship
  • A copy of a valid passport (applicable in all circumstances) valid for minimum six months from the date of application submission.
  • Proof of address of location of the application (Electricity bill or telephone bill)

  • These include:
(i) A copy of your Indian Passport or
(ii) A copy of the domicile Certificate that was issued by the Competent Authority or

(iv) OCI Card/ PIO card of parentsor spouse, along with the documents/base papers on which the OCIcard was issued or the PIO card was put, or
(v) Any other evidence that supports the demand. Usually applicants are able to submit a certificate of residence or place of birth of self/parents/grandparents from First Class Magistrate/District Magistrate (DM) of the concerned place.
  • The evidence of a relationship as a parent or grandparentor great-grandparents in the event that they are of Indian heritage is claimed as the basis for registration as an OCI Cardholder:
    • The proof of relationship may be a “Birth Certificate” issued from competent authority , mentioning each parent’s” name.
    • If the birth certificate was issued by an authority from a different country the certificate must be approved or Apostled by the relevant Indian Mission abroad.
  • If a minor child who has parents who have citizenship from India or one parent is an Indian citizen India –
(i) A copy of the the child’s birth certificate
(ii) Copy of the Indian passport of parents/one of the parents, or a copy of Domicile Certificate or Nativity Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in respect of the parentsor one of the parents, or any other proof of the identity of the parentsor one or both parents an Indian citizen(s).
(iii) If divorced parents or divorced, a court order for dissolution of marriage, that specifically states parental legal rights of children lies with the parent seeking the OCI card.
  • A proof of the spouse of foreign origin an Indian citizen India or spouse with foreign origin OCI Cardholder
(i) A registered marriage certificate (iii) Marriage certificate registered
(ii) If the spouse is of a spouse of one of the Indian citizen – copy the Indian Passport of the spouse, or a copy of the Domicile Certificate or Nativity Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in respect of the Indian spouse or other evidence to prove the spouse’s status as an Indian citizen.
(iii) If the spouse is of a spouse of an OCI Cardholder Copy of the valid passport of the spouse, and a copies of the OCI Card of the spouse, as well as copies of the documents on where OCI Card was issued. OCI Card was given to the spouse

Eligibility

  • If you were an Indian citizen at the time or resident of India at the date of or any time following the date of the enactment of , the Constitution i.e. 26.01.1950. or
  • The person who is qualified to become an Indian citizen on the date of India at 26.01.1950. or
  • Which belonged to a state that was incorporated into India following 15.08.1947 or

Anyone, or one of their parents, grandparents or great grandparents are or has been citizen from Pakistan, Bangladesh or such other country that the Central Government may, by announcement published in the Official Gazette, specify, is eligible to be registered in the Overseas Citizen of India Cardholder.
