To apply for the status of an Operator Registered in Part A in the Register

  • Application is complete
  • A Ply-for-Hire Service Licence, or regular (Bus) Service License Application Formula. Please note that if you’re seeking to operate an Ply for Hire taxi, or to offer the Bus Service (known as a Regular Service Licence); then you must fill out the appropriate application form.
  • Operating Centre Planning Form
  • Good Repute of the Operator or the Form of the Designated Manager

In order to apply for be an Operator Registered in Part B of the Register

  • Application is complete
  • The Ply for Hire License Application Form. Notification: If you’re seeking to operate an Ply for Hire taxi then you must fill out the Ply for Hire service Licence Application Form.
  • Operating Centre Planning Form
  • Good Reputation of Applicant Operator or Form for Designated Manager

Eligibility

Operator Registration-Part A in the Register For companies that use commercial vehicles only on the Isle of Man, and covers the following kinds of applications:

  • Large buses (i.e. that have 17 or more seats, with the driver not included) This application might be used to cover commercial operations of PPV minibuses as well as cars that the operator makes use of.
  • Minibuses (i.e. that have more than eight passenger seats, but not more than 16, with the driver) The application could include commercial operations of PPV vehicles that the operator makes use of.
  • Taxis and Taxis or Private Hire Cars (i.e. up to 8 seats, not including the driver) The application is for the operation of more than two of the Ply Hire taxis or Private Hire cars or one Ply Hire taxi, or Private Hire car, where the vehicle also functions as an Service Provider (radio dispatch base).

Operator Registration-Part B of the Register: For operators who make use of only one taxi or private hire vehicle, (i.e. up to 8 seats, not including the driver) and is NOT utilized for radio disspatch.

  • Registered Operator in Part ‘A of the Register Cost: 70
