Search and Certify Motor Vehicle Details In Uganda By Yourself

  1. Visit any licencesing offices close to you, armed with all the documents required and the suggested application fee
  2. Contact the service desk and request assistance an inquiry and certifying the motor vehicle details, and pay the fee for the search
  3. The officer in charge will conduct an URA computer database search on the system and give you the information as soon as possible.
  4. If you require a certified copy of the search of your vehicle, you must pay an additional fee and then be issued an official certificate from the authority that issued it.

Application for online use:

  1. Access the portal on the internet and click on the e-services.
  2. under motor vehicle click search and then certification
  3. If the applicant’s TIN is there is one, the details will automatically filled in in grey. You can also choose the option “No” if you do not have a TIN. Then, fill in the details of the applicant.
  4. Enter the number of your motor vehicle that you require information on; choose the type of application, fill in the details for payment; then submit the application. Once you have submitted your application, you will be issued an acknowledgement receipt.
  5. Click on the registration number to create the payment slip which you can take to the bank in order to make the payment.
  6. When you have made a payment to the bank After the bank has received your payment, the e-services page beneath motor vehicles. select the motor vehicle search information.
  7. You must enter the number of the vehicle and the code. After submission, you’ll be able to view the details of your vehicle search.
  8. URA will notify you of the status of your application within two working days following receipt of the application.

Note If you have purchased Search for a Certification you will be able to obtain copies of the car’s information at the license officer’s office. But, if you pay for search, you’ll only be able to access the information online.

Eligibility

  • A person who has lost their logbook, and would like to create the duplicate (duplicate)
  • Person who wishes to make an absentee transfer in the event that the owner of the car according to logbook isn’t easily traceable
  • The person who is ensuring that the current logbook corresponds exactly to the information in the database of URA database.

Certification fees : UGX 40,000

URA will inform you of the status of your application within 2 working days of receiving the application.

Instructions

Note:
This facility is only accessible to vehicles that have brand new registration books.

If you are applying for a search, you only have access to the details of your vehicle on the URA website portal.

If you apply for search and certificate you can view the car’s details and receive an official document that is certified with the details of the vehicle.
