Its a totally relative matter.Someone who likes construction of buildings,bridges,roads will prefer Civil engineering and someone who has interest in information and communication technology,softwares will prefer Electronics and communication engineering.But the hard truth is unless you are studying in a very good engineering colleges(like IIT,NIT,ISM,VIT,JU,IIEST Shibpur etc) it will be difficult for someone to get placed in a Civil engineering company.If you want do higher studies then it won’t matter much in case of B.Tech.But choosing the correct stream is one of the most imortant stepping stones for an engineering student in India.There will be plenty of opportunities for an ECE student in terms of placement and higher studies even if he/she has done B.Tech from a tier 3 engineering college.
