Register as Security Guard in Jamaica By Yourself

  1. You can register to become a security officer or apply for a license as an individual at the Private Security Regulation Authority office (PSRA). The Link link will take you to the PSRA office contact information.
  3. You can either get the registration form from the PSRA at the reception, or you can download it directly through this link: link
  4. Please read the instructions and complete the application form correctly. You must fill in the required fields as the renewal form will be used. (Do not sign the form).
  5. Attach all supporting documents to your application.
  6. Pay the application fee at the PSAR office, and you will receive a receipt.
  7. Send the completed application to the receptionist who will forward it to the interview officer.
  8. You will sign the application in the presence the interview officer.
  9. After that, you will be registered with PSAR. You will receive a registration number.
  10. You will receive your registration license.

Required Documents For Register as Security Guard

  • Each applicant must complete and sign Form 2.
  • Certified copy of the Birth Certificate
  • Taxpayer Registration Number
  • National Insurance Registration Card (NIS).
  • Either a valid Driver’s Licence or National Identification Card.
  • The Criminal Records Office has a report on finger prints
  • Certified copy of marriage certificate
  • Two passport-sized photographs of civilian clothing, certified by a Justice of the Peace.
  • Two references as shown on Form 2.
  • Interview with P.S.R.A. Officer. The applicant must sign the P.S.R.A. Application form (Form 2) must be signed in the presence the Officer conducting the interview

Eligibility

The following conditions are required for Jamaican citizens:

  • To obtain a license, you must be 18 years old.
  • You are not subject to bankruptcy orders.
  • You have not been convicted of any crime in the ten year preceding your application.
  • The Authority must be convinced that you are not physically or mentally disabled and can carry out the operation of the license.

Fees

  • Register each armed guard $2500
  • Register each unarmed security guard $1200

Validity

  • The registration license is valid only for the period indicated.
