Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited was established under the 1956 Indian Companies Act. BHEL is a Schedule’A’ Maharatna CPSE and today it is the largest Indian engineering company. BHEL serves core industries such as Power, Transmission, Industry, Transportation, (including Railways), Defence, Petrochemicals, Steel, Cement, Fertilizers, and many others. There are 17 manufacturing plants, 8 service centers and 4 regional Power Sector centers.
