  • Customs agents are people or businesses that have been certified from Customs and Border Protection Commissioner of Customs to Act on behalf of exporters and importers.
  • Customs agents are required to be certified by the Commissioner prior to the time they can participate in the process of clearing products through Customs.
  • An application for Form C24 must be submitted and then presented to the Commissioner to be considered.

Required Documents For Apply for Customs Clearing Agent License

  • Tenancy agreement.
  • Certificate of registration and business form 20.
  • Letter of company with seal and stamp.
  • Evidence of an established office, physical address
  • The bankers’ names must be cited in the application
  • Articles of Association and Memorandum for the company;
  • Certificate of registration for the company
  • Tax Identification Numbers of the company as well as Directors;
  • Identification cards, passports, or other forms of identification for the directors and staff who were proposed to sign or directly handle the customs documents;
  • Recent passport-sized photos of staff and directors verified by a Notary Public or an Oath Commissioner

Eligibility

The Commissioner will only grant licenses to those who are registered and well-versed in Customs clearance, and who have offices equipped including equipment such as computers

Fees

  • Application Fees 50 USD
  • License Fee 400 USD
  • Renewal Fee $400 USD

Validity

  • The period of validity of the customs Agent license is one calendar year. Licenses issued in the year of curse expire on 31st day of December each year.

Instructions

It is subject to Commissioners approval based on the considerations. The person who is the owner of the items being cleared by Customs is accountable for the actions agents authorized by Customs do in the time that he/she acts on their behalf. Both the agent and the owner will be held accountable for any illegal act committed by the agent on behalf of the owner.

Legalize the activities of forwarding and clearing firms to conduct business on behalf of taxpayers.

Information that could be helpful

  • A representative, who is authorized from the proprietor to work on behalf of them in writing, is accountable for the preparation and presentation of these declarations Customs.
  • The agent can also sign other papers for his client upon request provided that he is authorized through the Customs Act.
  • The agent is responsible for ensuring that all taxes are paid according to the requirements for the consignments that he/she manages for the owner.
