How to Export Fresh Produce In Jamaica

Export Fresh Produce In Jamaica By Yourself

  1. For the inspection of Agricultural Fresh Produce exported from Jamaica, please contact the Plant Quarantine Division. You can view the contact information of the PQD via the Contacts provided in the section “Office Locations and Contacts” below.
  2. For packing house inspections and approval, contact the PQD. Refer to the wiki-procedure Jamaica-Apply For Export Packing Facility Certification From The Plant Quarantine Division, (PQD).
  3. If the packing house has been approved, the Chief Pot Quarantine officer will write a letter to JAMPRO requesting that they continue with the certification process.
  4. You can register as an exporter after you have received the certificate letter. To see the registration process, please refer to wiki-procedure Jamaica-Register as An Exporter
  5. For information on packaging suitable for different types of fresh produce, contact the Bureau of Standards.
  6. Next, pack your exports in an approved packing house. All fresh produce must arrive in clean, new and properly labeled boxes or bags. The labeling on all packages must match the information on the export documents.
  7. Next, purchase and complete the Export Entry Form C82. This can be obtained at the Trade Board or from the Jamaica Exporter’s Association. Complete all commercial and export forms, i.e. the goods declaration form C86, which can also be downloaded from the Jamaica Customs Agency’s website: Link
  8. Access ASYCUDA World: Link for complete export declaration (ESAD).
  9. Next, find the shipping and air cargo rates for your choice of export. Book the export and get insurance coverage. You can either complete a Tally Sheet (by plane) or Wharf/Dock Reception and Cargo Integrity Formula (by sea).
  10. Contact the PQD to inspect the exports. You must make an appointment for inspection at least 24 hours before the shipment is taken to the export complex.
  11. The export will be inspected by the PQD inspectors. If approved, you will receive a Phytosanitary Certificate. The QPD inspector will seal the cargo.
  12. You can transport your cargo to the exit point, complete the customs validation and export your cargo
