Clear Importation of Items Arriving by Passenger In Jamaica By Yourself

  1. Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) is responsible for clearing goods and items arriving in Jamaica. You can view contact details of the JCA through this link: Link
  2. You are eligible for a USD 500 duty-free allowance if you are at least 18 years old. This applies to personal and household items, whether they are accompanied or not. However, anyone below 18 years of age is not allowed to receive the UDS 500 allowance. They are still permitted to have their items.
  3. If you do not have personal items with you, please use the red channel at the Customs Passenger Terminal to inform the Customs Officer.
  4. For verification, submit the documents required as listed in the “Required Documents Section” below to the customs officer
  5. An official will review your documents and calculate total charges for the items.
  6. You will have to pay any excess value above the duty-free allowance if the charges exceed this amount.
  7. After payment is received, the payment invoice will be issued to you and your items with all the applicable customs documentation will be released.
