What Are All The Eligibility

Permit to practice public accounting

You are eligible to request a permit if:

  1. Are currently holder of a certificate of certified public accountant or a valid application to become a public accountant.
  2. At least 1 year of experience within any state in the United States with a person or company in the field of public accounting.
  3. Have met the the requirements for continuing education set forth in the regulation from the Board.

The requirement for experience mentioned in item 2 doesn’t expire after the 31st of December, 1978, nor to anyone who has completed the education requirements laid out in 31.0210 through 31.0216 of the Public Accountancy Law of 1978

Temporary Permit to Practice

A person will, on an application to the Board be granted a temporary practice permit if:

  • is 18 years old or more; the age of
  • is morally good;
  • is a holder of an active Certificate of Certified Public Accountant or a valid registration for an accountant public by the laws of a different state, or holds an authentic license, certificate or degree from the country of a foreign nation that has been determined by the Board to be an official qualifications for the practice of public accounting in that country and
  • as a result of his practice the other state or country, he would like to conduct public accounting as a result of his practice in American Samoa on a temporary basis.

Fees

  • Application fee to get permission to practice, for those who practice of public accounting by himself as sole proprietor or as the partner in a partnership engaged in the field of public accountancy and/or as an investor in a company engaged that is engaged in public accounting: $30 other applicants seeking the issuance of a biennial license to practice will be required to pay a fee of 10 dollars.
  • A temporary license to practise 30 dollars

Validity

  • A Authorisation to practice public Accountancy will be valid for a maximum of two years.
  • The Temporary Permit for Practice is valid for no more than 3 months. It must describe the nature and the extent of the practice that is permitted.

Instructions

A request for the permit to practice public accounting must be made by the Territorial Board of Public Accountancy.
