Pay Individual Taxes for Self-Employed Persons In Jamaica By Yourself

  1. If you are self-employed and wish to file Individual Tax returns, please submit your application to Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ), or Tax office for completion. You can access the Link contact information and offices of TAJ.
  2. You can obtain the Application Form for Filing Tax Returns, Form S04 for the 31st of December for the period you are interested in filing. Or you can download the form from TAJ’s website Link. For self-employed persons, you will need to download or obtain the Declaration of Estimated Income, Taxes and Contributions payable, Form S04a. You can also download the forms via the links in the “Document to use” section below.
  3. The quarterly Statutory Payment Form, Form S03 from the tax office, will also be required.
  4. Fill out the forms correctly, and get the supporting documents to file your tax returns
  5. Submit your complete tax application to the tax officer at the service desk.
  6. Your complete application will be received by the official. The official will then compute your data in order to verify what you have given.
  7. You will then be given a printed copy containing the tax amount you need to pay for this income period
  8. Pay your income tax at the cashier

Apply Online

  1. For self-employed persons who wish to file income tax online, visit TAJ’s Link website.
  2. To go to the account login page, click on “HT0_ Client Login” from the homepage. Or, click on “HT1_ Login” tab.
  3. If you have an account, enter your username and password. Click on “Create Account” if you don’t already have one. Fill in the required fields on the new page and click “Next”.
  4. The notice will thank you for creating the account and send your password to your email address.
  5. Enter your password, sign in, and then read and accept the provide policy. You will be directed to the next page. Here you will be asked a reminder question about your password. Click on “ Save” to be taken to your account’s online service portal.
  6. Scroll down to “ Apply For An e-Services account” in “Other non-Logon Services”. Or click on the tab “Apply for An e-ServicesAccount” to go to the online registration page
  7. To access the account details page, please read the information on the e-service registration page.
  8. Click on “Next” to go to the Security Questions page.
  9. Answer all security questions, then click on “Next” to go to the Accounts Manager Details Page.
  10. This page contains information about the Account Manager. You can upload any attachments you need by clicking the “Add button.” Attachments can only be uploaded to this page if they are less than 5MB in size. To add users to your account, choose “Yes”. Then add the details to the other person using the link “Add a record” HTML1. You will need to choose “Add A Record” for each record you wish to add. To stop other accounts being added to your account, click the “Nextbutton” to go to the summary page.
  11. Check the information that you have submitted and click the “Submitbutton” button. If you wish to make any corrections, click the “Previous” button
  12. After submitting the form, a page with configuration information will appear. Here you can read all the information about your application. Click “OK” to return to the eServices page or “ Print View” for printing the confirmation message. You should note the configuration number before selecting “OK”.
  13. Once you have submitted your account, the tax department will verify that your application is complete. They will then approve it and send you a notification of approval with details about setting up a password.
  14. To file your taxes online, set up your password and log in to your e-service account.
  15. Once you have logged into your account, choose to file your returns sole-trader and you will be taken to the online S04 Form.
  16. To proceed to the next page, simply fill in the required information and click “Next”.
  17. After you have completed all required declarations, click “Submit” at end of form. All data will automatically be computed and the system’s tax calculator will display the correct tax.
  18. Print out the tax form and go to the Tax office as a sole-trader to pay the Income tax.
