Obtaining Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) Number In-Person.

  • Once the registration process has been completed, it is required to register with the DGFT (Director General for Foreign Trade), Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.
  • DGFT provides exporter a unique IEC Number. IEC Numbers are code of ten digits needed for export and import. Exporters are not permitted to export goods to another country without having an IEC number.
  • A request for the grant of an IEC number should be submitted by the person who is authorized to do so at the registered/head office of the firm that is to be exported to the closest Regional Authority of Directorate General Foreign Trade.

  • Visit the office of your choice and speak with the authority designated. You must obtain the application form.

  • The applicant should fill out the application, attach all required documents and submit together with the application fee.
  • The application submitted will be reviewed through the authorities. If all is in place the application will be approved and a receipt given to the applicant. Make sure to keep it safe to be able to refer back to it in the future.
  • The application is handled internally. After the IEC code is approved, it is typically delivered to the address you provide.

Note:

  • It is suggested to submit an additional copy of the documents , and also get the counter signed to ensure your safety when submitting your application to the government department.

Application Online

  • To sign up online, please go to the link below.
  • In the following page Please click on the “Apply to IEC” option underneath “Register on behalf of your IEC” in the upper right side of the screen. This will open a an ad.
  • Select”LOGIN” from the “LOGIN” Section. Enter the user’s name and password in the appropriate manner. Fill in the captcha according to the applicable requirements and then click the “Login” Click.
  • If you’re a new user, you must fill in the requested information as required under the “REGISTER” Section. Select the checkbox for “By registration” …” option” and then click the “Send an OTP” button near the end of the page.
  • A OTP will be sent to your mobile. Enter the OTP into the required space and then click the appropriate button to finish the registration process.
  • After successful login, the applicant will arrive at the dashboard. Select “Apply IEC” button.
  • In the page that appears, click the “Start Fresh Application” button.
  • Candidates will arrive on the application page online.
  • Please fill in each of the following sections “General Information”, “Details of the Proprietor/Partner/Director”, “Bank Information”, “Other Details (preferred sectors of operation)”, “Declaration” and “Application Summary” by filling in the appropriate information and uploading the appropriate documents.
  • For each section, click the “Save and Next” link to proceed to another section. Once you have reached the “Application Summary” section, you must click on the “Preview IEC Application” button to view a overview for the application online.
  • If the online application looks acceptable, go back to the page where you can apply and click the “Sign” click to make the payment.
  • When the sign button is chosen, the user will be shown an alert for confirmation. You must click the “Ok” option.
  • An “Sign Submission” popup prompts users to choose a method of signing. Click “Proceed” button under the “Aadhaar Electronic Signature” or “Digital Signature Certificate” option that is applicable to your particular type.
  • A pop-up screen will appear. Select the checkbox to “By pressing the “checkbox” …” option, and then click the “Continue” choice.
  • You must complete the e-Authentication process for the option you choose (“Aadhaar E-Sign” or “Digital Signature Certificate”). If the authentication is successful, the user will receive “Document signed successfully” Popup. Click the “OK” option to activate the “Proceed to Pay” button. Click the button.#A A new webpage with the applicant and payment information will be presented. Click the “Submit” to submit your request.
  • A summary of the payment will be provided. Check the information and then click the “Confirm” option to access the payment gateway’s page.
  • Select the payment method and any other relevant information as per your preferred payment type.
  • Once all the information is complete, click the “Pay” option at the end of the page.
  • The applicant will receive a receipt for the transaction to complete online application and payment. Keep it safe to use in the future.
  • The application will be further processed. Applicant will receive an update from department and the application code will be issued in accordance with the deliveryable mode.

Select the State name for the appropriate State Procedure.

Required Documents For Register as an Exporter

  • A second copy of your application formatted according to the prescribed format.
  • PAN Cards issued by Tax department. Tax department.
  • One address evidence.
  • Two Passport Size photo.
  • A cancelled check that bears the entity’s pre-printed name or bank certificate.
  • Document showing the payment of fee.
  • Memorandum and Articles and Constitution.
  • Bank information (Name Bank, account type Number of the account..)
  • Fees for the required services, whether in cash or via demand draft
  • Covering letter for your company’s letterhead to issue a the new IEC codes.
  • Aadhaar card
  • Self-addressed envelopes that have the necessary postal stamp.

NOTE:

  • The above-mentioned documents must be taken in their original, attested copies (to be provided) when applying.
  • Other than the above-listed documents, authorities can require additional information or documents. They will need your information to ensure efficient processing.
